Vietnam - Day 1 Saigon (Ho Chi Min City)

After spending almost 19 hours travelling door to door we finally arrived at our apartment in Saigon (Ho Chi Min City).

Tia got a bit bored and did every Suduko she could find. The Kuala Lumpur Low Cost Carrier Terminal is not somewhere you want to get stuck in for 7 hours.

Spent the first day eating, drinking coffee and playing frogger. Unfortunately we were the frogs and the Saigon traffic were the crocodiles. I've never seen so many motorbikes and so little rules. Brynley and Jordan almost got sandwiched by a taxi coming one way and a motorbike coming the other. After getting yelled at by Lisa for "looking the wrong way" Brynley is going to get a webcam installed in his arse to increase the field of vision.

The Reunification Palace was stunning. They still have the North Vietnamese tanks that crashed through the gates in 1975 as the South Vietnam government was overrun. There is still an old war helicopter on the roof rusting away.

The War Remnants Museum (previously named the American War Crimes Museum) was extremely brutal and confronting. Loads of pictures of blood, guts, disemboweled bodies and napalm burnt corpses. The kids loved it!!

Finished the day with some excellent Vietnamese food at a restaurant that many people had recommended to us.Brynley got adventurous with his dessert and doesn't know whether he will pay for it tomorrow.

And finally ... this is the view we go to bed with from our apartment at night.
